My Principles
-
I’ve served in government and adjacent to government long enough to tell you from personal experience how poor of a job government does at solving problems. Creating ways for individuals to solve problems for themselves is always better. I will always look for the least amount of government intervention possible, which ideally is none at all.
-
I work hard everyday, and I know you do too. I do not take lightly the responsibility of spending your tax dollars. You can rest assured that I will always opt for spending less, evaluating whether that spending is effective, and trying to put more money back in your pocket.
-
I can’t promise you’re going to agree with me on everything, but I can promise that if you call me to talk about it, I will hear you out. I also want feedback. If you like (or don’t like) something I’ve done or said, tell me.

Simple is better when it comes to policy. Complex approaches to problem solving are easier to game and harder to implement. I’ve written bills and had to implement them. I know all the tricks to hiding bad policy ideas in complexity. I also know how to write good policy that is hard to abuse and achieves its goal.
